Historical background
Depictions of festivals and the various concomitant rituals provide an invaluable source of information. Many of the present-days festivals bear a strong resemblance to those depicted in the murals.

Date: 17th century
Description: Vasantotsava (Spring festival); The processional images of Ganesha, Subrahmanya,Valli and Devasena, are carried in procession with great pomp, preceded by dancers and fireworks displays.

Positioning: Devasiriya mandapa, ceiling third aisle from the east

Date: 17th century
Description: Vasantotsava (Spring festival) celebrations. The image of Chandrashekhara, preceded by a great number of umbrella-, torch- and pennants-bearers is carried in procession on a palanquin. Priests, a dancer, musicians and fireworks, precede the image.
